GAA Lotto.
There was no winner of the latest lotto draw and the numbers drawn were 3,5,6 and 18. The three lucky winners of the €50 lucky dip were Joan Casey, Ollie Harris and Brian Cuddihy. The next draw will take place in O Donnachas on Sunday September 11th and will have a jackpot of €4,550. Tickets cost just €2 or three for €5 and will be on sale outside Centra all day on Saturday 10th.
Schoolbag Blessing.
As all the children and teenagers have returned to school now, the Bishop has contacted all the priests in the diocese and asked them to have a special blessing of all schoolbags. So at the weekend masses on Saturday September 10th and Sunday 11th all schoolbags will be given a special blessing. So simply bring along your schoolbag and it will be blessed during the mass.
Fun Run/Walk
A huge well done to all who were involved in organising the recent Liz Hayes memorial fun run and walk. Thankfully this year the weather was a lot kinder and there was a great atmosphere around the place. Following the event the runners and walkers returned to the community centre where there was a fine array of sandwiches and cakes. Well done to all who supported this event. All proceeds went to the community centre.
Wedded Bliss
We send our heartiest congratulations to local man Brian O Leary of Blacknock who travelled to Faithlegg church recently to marry his sweetheart Laura O Shea. Laura was trully a stunning bride and Brian made a handsome groom and their bridal party was made all the cuter by their children Cathal and Chloe. A wonderful reception was celebrated in The Woodlands hotel and on Sunday they were joined once again by family and friends in The Sweep. We wish this happy little family every best wish for the future.
Race Night.
Ballyduff GAA club will host a night at the dogs on Saturday September 17th. Make your way to Kilcohan to enjoy some fun racing, novelty races and raffle. Tickets cost just €10 with a family ticket for €20. This should be a great night so get your ticket now from any club member.
Coffee Morning
We all know the wonderful work which is done by The Hospice. They not only provide help and support to the patient but also to the patients family. Like every good charity they do not receive the funding they deserve and so rely heavily on the generosity of the public.
We have the opportunity to support them here in our area on Thursday September 15th when there will be a coffee morning in O Donnachas. All we have to do is spread the word and drop along with our friends for a nice cup of tea or coffee and one of O Donnachas world famous scones. What a nice way to spend an hour or two while helping a very worthwhile charity
